We are waking up to more smoky skies this morning, but the smoke will begin to diminish a little during the afternoon as our winds shift to the southwest. A RED FLAG WARNING is in effect for the Wasatch Front today because of dry vegetation, gusty winds and the threat for lightning. A few hit-and-miss thunderstorms will pop up in the afternoon and evening today across northern Utah and SW Wyoming. More moisture will surge northward from Arizona tomorrow. Scattered thunderstorms are likely Tuesday afternoon-Wednesday night across the state. Flash flooding is be possible down south, especially near rivers and streams, dry washes and slot canyons.
Wasatch Front Forecast:
Monday: Partly cloudy and smoky. A chance for t-storms by afternoon. Breezy. Highs in the low and mid-90s.
Tonight: Few storms to our east. Lows in the upper-60s.
Tuesday: Mostly cloudy with scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms. Highs in the mid and upper-80s.
Wednesday: Mostly cloudy with scattered PM thunderstorms. Highs in the mid-80s.
