(KUTV) - Ryan Walters scored twice in the first period Saturday night as the Utah Grizzlies scored the first four goals of the game and beat the Fort Wayne Komets 4-2 in front of a massive crowd at the Maverik Center.

The season-high crowd of 7,656 fans were treated to a great show as Walters found the back of the net twice in a span of just under four minutes halfway through the opening period to give Utah a 2-0 lead after twenty minutes. Michael Pelech and Taylor Richart also scored in the second period to give Utah a 4-0 lead before Fort Wayne scored twice late to end up at the 4-2 final score.

Kevin Carr picked up his fifth win for the Grizzlies this season, stopping 29 of 31 shots.

“I thought it was a complete effort by everyone,” said head coach and General Manager Tim Branham after the game. “The special teams were much better. That 5 on 3 really sealed the deal. It was a really good job by our guys to work the puck around and to get a goal.”

The Grizzlies are back in action next Friday and Saturday at the Maverik Center as they take on the Colorado Eagles. You can watch highlights of Saturday's game above.
