Real Salt Lake extends their broadcast partnership with KMYU

(KUTV) - Real Salt Lake has annoucned on Wednesday that the team has partnered up again with KMYU to bring RSL soccer matches over-the-air through the 2020 season.

All 33 of RSL's non-National games in 2018 will air locally on KMYU (2.2 over-the-air, Channel 12 Satellite, Comcast Channel 643) and will be avaialable in all Utah homes for free over-the-air for the 14th straight year.

“I’m very excited for our club to continue to align itself with Salt Lake’s KMYU/KUTV, as we have worked cooperatively on a successful promotional partnership for the last several years, one which meshes perfectly with our diverse demographics,” said RSL Owner Dell Loy Hansen. “As the broadcast and technological landscapes change, the continuity and reliability of our KMYU delivery for fans to consume the RSL brand of live-action, reality television – along with the star-building and storytelling surrounding our teams and our facilities, and the overall legacy for the sport in Utah – is critical.”

In the continued agreement with Sinclair Broadcast Group, parent company of KUTV/KMYU in Utah, there will be 30-minute pregame and postgame shows for all of RSL's 33 games on KMYU. In addtion to the live broadcasts, KMYU will also air "Talkin' Real" on Thursday nights at 10:35pm, which will focus on all things RSL for a full half hour starting this season. Talkin' Sports' David James and RSL analyst Brian Dunseth will continue to be the on-air personalities this season, including the Talkin' Real shows. New this year, sideline reporter Rebecca Cade will join DJ and Dunny during the live game broadcasts, which will once again be produced by longtime producer Ken Neal.

The agreement will also allow games to be broadcasted in other regional markets, inlcuding Sinclair-owned stations in Nevada, Idaho, and Arizona.

“We are very excited to extend our partnership with Real Salt Lake and Major League Soccer to continue to bring these games to all the passionate fans and viewers,” said Kent Crawford, General Manager of KUTV 2 NEWS/KMYU MY UTAH TV. “RSL has always been a great community asset to the state of Utah, one that is obviously growing at a fever pitch. The Real brand grows in strength with every game played, each team born and each facility built, and we take the responsibility of serving fans, viewers and the ever-growing youth soccer movement very seriously. We are proud to remain together with such a terrific organization to help promote, broadcast and showcase this wonderful franchise, driven by Dell Loy’s passion and inspiration.”

Real Salt Lake opens the 2018 season on March 3rd as the Claret and Cobalt take on FC Dallas in Frisco, TX. RSL's home opener will take place the following week against the new expansion team LAFC on March 10th.
