Evanston Cowboy Days | Sept. 1-4
The first Cowboy Days event took place in 1936, when local rancher Tom Painter and locomotive engineer Bob Rowley worked with Evanston’s mayor, Dr. J. H. Holland, to create a ranching heritage celebration. What came to be called the “Biggest Little Rodeo in the World” continued to run every year except 1943, 1944 and 1945 because of the impact of WWII. In 1946, the rodeo was back on and it’s been running ever since. This year marks the 81st Cowboy Days.
Stopping by this hugely popular event won’t only get you a good dose of history – it’ll get you a heck of a show! See mutton busting, a rodeo clown, a queen contest, a great parade and bullfighting, or stop by craft and vendor booths to do some shopping and snacking.
Whether this is your first Cowboy Days or your fiftieth, this beloved event has something for everyone to enjoy. Attending is a great way to have some fun and take advantage of the summer weather while it lasts!
