Texas woman accused of biting off victim's nose
HOUSTON (WKRC) - A woman in Texas is accused of a savage assault that left another woman disfigured.
"I'm 28 years old. I don't have a nose anymore," said Tatiana, the victim of the attack who says she has trouble talking about it.
Tatiana says she was sitting in her backyard with Jessica Collins when Collins attacked her.
Collins was reportedly staying at Tatiana's neighbor's home. Tatiana, the neighbor, and Collins all went to a bar together. When they got back to Tatiana's house, Collins demanded alcohol and cigarettes. Tatiana refused and told Collins to leave.
Tatiana says that's when the 41-year-old Collins attacked her. Collins allegedly bit off a part of Tatiana's nose and swallowed it.
"I didn't have time to react, to push her away. I think I was trying to fight back, but I couldn't. All I could remember was the taste of the blood in my mouth," said Tatiana.
Collins was charged with misdemeanor assault. She is out on bond.
"I've seen a lot. I've seen other parts bit off. I mean, it does happen. This case here is probably the first we've had in probably four or five years, but it does happen," said Constable Mark Herman of the Harris County Constable's Office.
Tatiana does not have health insurance. She faces extensive surgery. Doctors have told her that she doesn't have much time before restoration becomes more difficult as the wound heals.
Tatiana has set up a GoFundMe page.
"I don't know what to do," said Tatiana.
