ANTHEM, Ariz. (WSET) -- An Arizona woman's dog stepped in and came to her rescue when a she stepped on a rattlesnake.

WLS-TV reports that Paula Godwin and her dogs Todd and Cooper went on a hike on June 29.

Later in the hike, her dog Todd jumped right in to save his owner when she nearly stepped on a rattlesnake.

"He jumped right in front of my leg [where] I surely would have [been] bit," she said.

Rather than her being bit, the snake bit Todd in the face, leaving Godwin uninjured.

She sought immediate medical treatment for Todd, who is expected to fully recover.

"Todd's doing so well, [it] is a wonder to me how he is healing. Just a thank you to all the support," Godwin said on her Facebook page.
