SEAL BEACH, Calif. (CIRCA) - Customers at a California doughnut shop are buying out its treats early each morning, so owner John Chhan can spend more time with his sick wife, KCAL-TV reports.

The couple has worked together selling doughnuts every morning from their shop, Donut City, in Seal Beach.

Chhan's wife, Stella, recently suffered an aneurysm and hasn’t been working while she's in rehab. KCAL reports they've owned Donut City for three decades.

Now, after the shop sells out of doughnuts each day, John leaves to be with his wife.

Customers came together and spread the word about buying the doughnuts out quickly to help out.

John told KCAL they sell fast and sometimes he can close as early as 10 a.m.

He said he doesn’t want a GoFundMe account; he just wants to spend more time with his wife.
