Wyoming woman dies after son falls asleep at the wheel
(KUTV) - Karen Nelson, the rear passenger in a pickup truck that was involved in a rollover crash on Interstate 80 near milepost 186 on May 9, has died.
Nelson suffered significant head trauma and was flown by a medical helicopter in critical condition after the crash.
Chad Jensen, Nelson's son, fell asleep while driving with the cruise control set to 80 mph. Near milepost 186, the pickup drifted off the right side of the road and traveled a short distance before it hit an embankment. The impact caused the pickup to overturn and roll several times before coming to rest on its top.
Jensen and his father were transported to the hospital by an ambulance due to their injuries.
