Three inmates injured in Uinta prison fight
(KUTV) — Three inmates suffered injuries after eight inmates initiated a Uinta Facility prison fight Wednesday evening.
On Jan. 10 at 7:40 p.m., eight inmates started a fight in the day room of a section in the prison designated for gang-affiliated inmates.
According to a news release, the fight involved the use of inmate-manufactured weapons, which were recovered by staff after the altercation.
Three inmates were injured during the fight and were taken to the hospital for treatment. They are all in stable condition, a news release states.
The names of all inmates involved are being withheld pending investigation. There were no injuries to other inmates or staff.
Utah Department of Corrections' Law Enforcement Bureau is conducting an investigation into the incident in conjunction with Unified Police Department.
The Utah State Prison and Central Utah Correctional Facility were still both on lockdown at the time of this article's publishing.
