(KUTV) Two suspects are on the run in Salt Lake City after shooting a man they tried to steal from early Monday morning.

On Nov. 13, the victim, who resides near 1000 W. North Temple, came outside at around 6 a.m. and saw the two suspects trying to steal from his car. The victim confronted the two suspects.

The confrontation came to a head when one of the two suspects shot the victim in the leg.

According to police, the victim and suspects have no connection. Police have not received any calls regarding car theft in the area.

Police say after the victim called police, the suspects ran away, jumped a fence behind the house, ran into a church parking lot.

The suspects, who are described as wearing all black, were cornered somewhere in the area of 1000 W. 900 W. along North Temple.

According to police, "several" people were detained as of 7:48 a.m.
