SafeWise: Highland/Lone Peak is safest city in the Beehive State
(KUTV) -- SafeWise identified the 2018 Top 20 safest cities in Utah with Highland/Lone Peak taking the No. 1 safest city title.
The independent review site based its rankings on population and crime data from the most recent FBI crime report. As a whole, Utah’s violent crime rate was 39% less than the national average in 2016, with incidents of murder being especially low.
Violent crime was even more uncommon among the state’s 20 safest cities, SafeWise reported.
On average, SafeWise found that violent offenses reported by the cities accounted for 3.9% of crimes, and all but two of the state’s safest places cited less than one violent crime per 1,000 people.
SafeWise stated on its site:
We’re pleased to see Utah doing a stellar job at keeping crime under control while taking a balanced, commonsense approach to citizen safety.
