Police find 7.5-foot boa constrictor loose in Nephi
(UPDATE 8:25 p.m.) — The snake has been found, the Juab County Sheriff's Office reported in a Facebook post.
(KUTV) — A 7.5-foot boa constrictor is loose in Nephi, the Juab County Sheriff's office reported in a Facebook post on Wednesday.
Police said the Red-tailed boa constrictor is thought to be loose in the area of 800 North 100 East in Nephi.
Residents are advised to "be cautious with small children and animals."
The snake's owner contacted Nephi City police just after 3 p.m. Wednesday after returning home and finding its pen open, s Nephi police spokesperson said.
Police say the owner searched around the home and in his yard without finding the snake. Two officers with the Nephi City Police Department are now aiding the snake's owner in the search, the spokesperson said.
The snake's owner reportedly told police a family member forgot to close its pen. The snake was last seen around 1 p.m.
Nephi police say they will try to post updates on the Nephi City government Facebook page.
