Park City taking extra precautions to prevent any terrorism attacks
(KUTV) - Park City is taking extra measures to help prevent an attack like the one with just saw in Toronto.
That incident left 10 people dead and 14 injured on Monday when a suspect drove a van through a crowd of people.
When there’s an event going on in Park City, specifically in the lower Main Street area, officials normally block off certain intersections with a police patrol car, so that other vehicles can’t drive through.
Now they’ve purchased several dozen, 3-foot tall, steel bollards, or poles, that they can use to block the streets if and when needed. The cost - just over $33,000. The installation will cost extra and the bidding process for that job is currently underway.
A meeting will happen May 1st at the intersection of Heber Avenue and Main Street about the bidding process, just to make sure everyone is on the same page about what is required. For more information on that, contact Park City Council.
All bids will need to be in by May 7th.
