(KUTV) - A motorcyclist is in critical condition after slamming into a school bus in Highland in front of Lone Peak High School.

About 20 elementary school children were on the bus, but none were injured.

It happened around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday according to Det. Dave Ventrano with the Lone Peak Police Department.

A 21-year-old man was headed north on North County Boulevard when he hit a southbound school bus which was trying to turn left onto Killarney Drive.

Ventrano says the motorcyclist was taken to American Fork Hospital in critical condition and then taken to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.

He was wearing a helmet, but sustained head trauma.

Another bus arrived and picked up the kids and dropped them off at their destination.

No citations are being issued at this time and the name of the motorcyclist has not yet been released.
