That signal indicated a snowmobiler was buried in an avalanche and a helicopter was dispatched to rescue the man.

The adult male was buried in the avalanche for 30 to 40 minutes before two friends were able to dig him out.

After two friends dug him out, they began CPR and continued to administer lifesavingefforts for more than 40 minutes until a Utah DPS helicopter was able to get to the patient," Summit County Sheriffs said in a news release. "The male was transported by the DPS helicopter to an Evanston, Wyoming hospital where he died. No one else was injured in the avalanche. The avalanche is estimated to be 500-600 feet wide and 4-10 feet deep at the toe."
