Thousands attend LDS President Monson viewing
(KUTV) — Utahns gathered Thursday afternoon to pay respects to LDS President Thomas S. Monson, who died last week on Jan. 2 at the age of 90.
The viewing took place at the LDS Conference Center in downtown Salt Lake City.
Thousands of people attended the viewing, and millions tuned in to watch.
Monson led members of the LDS Church for nearly ten years.
At Thursday's viewing Monson lay in an open casket, dressed in all white.
The viewing began at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 8 p.m. It is open to the public and all ages are welcome. No tickets are required.
Mourners are expected to file silently beside the casket. No one is permitted to touch the body.
The Conference Center seats 21,000 people and is expected to be packed Thursday and Friday.
