(KUTV) -- One person was killed during a vehicle crash on US Highway 40 near Duchesne County, Utah Highway Patrol (UHP) reports.

Just before 11 p.m. Thursday night, a passenger car was traveling westbound at the same time a semi tractor pulling double tankers was traveling eastbound at the same location.

For an unknown reason, the passenger car swerved into the eastbound lane and collided with the semi.

The semi continued moving for a short distance before it was able to stop. The tractor burst into flames and completely burned, UHP reported. The trailers were unharmed.

However, the driver of the vehicle was killed on impact and the passenger was transported to the Uintah Basin Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the semi suffered minor injuries that didn't require him to be transported to the hospital.

UHP says it will released the identity of the deceased victim as soon as the family out-of-state has been notified.
