(KUTV) — A Walmart store in Clinton, Utah was evacuated for a little more than two hours Wednesday.

According to police, a Walmart employee saw a man with a gun in the parking lot. That man may have been acting erratically. Walmart called police and police ordered the evacuation.

Walmart surveillance video shows the man did enter the store but then left before police arrived.

He left as a passenger in a white SUV. Police are now looking for that man. Police do not believe there is any imminent threat to the public. It is not against the law in Utah to carry a gun into a store.

According to witnesses, it was a scary and urgent scene but the evacuation was handled in an orderly fashion. Both witnesses and police were complementary of Walmart staff’s handling of the situation.

Walmart was reopened by 3:15 PM Tuesday.

Utah State law allows the open carry of firearms. Still, police say they would like to find the man and potentially verify he is permitted to own and carry a gun.
