Check Your Health - It Takes a Village

(KUTV) At the end of March 2018, the Utah Office of Health Disparities is releasing our It Takes a Village: Giving Our Babies the Best Chance program curriculum. Brittany Okada, MPH, CHES, a health program specialist at the Utah Department of Health, explains that the It Takes a Village program is OHD’s effort to raise awareness about birth outcomes disparities or differences in health outcomes experienced by Utah’s Pacific Islander community and educates about maternal and infant health in the context of Pacific Islander cultural beliefs and practices. It is the first of its kind in the nation and is a unique and beautiful example of how health and cultural can come together to educate and motivate Pacific Islanders to honor their health and heritage.
