How the TOSH FIT program works: Baseline Testing – Know Where You Are & Where You Have Been

During your second week of training you will be measured for the following:

Girth measurements

Upper body strength

Lower body strength

Core strength

After 12 weeks of conditioning, the same measurements will be taken again so you can see your progress.

Why is this so important? New data from the Centers for Disease Control confirms that more Americans die from cardiovascular disease than anything else. Heart disease and stroke cause 1 out of 3 deaths in the U.S.

"Our goal is to improve their strength, improve the balance, coordination, help people develop more cardio vascular fitness and just those things that tend to decrease as we age." said TOSH FIT coordinator and athletic sports trainer McKenzie Evans.

Doctors recommend five days of exercise a week for at least 30 minutes, and the structured workout from the TOSH Program, coupled with expert instruction won't waste your time.

Trainers tailor the TOSH Program to fit age, gender, and physical abilities – an individual approach in a small group setting.

A mother and TOSH fit participant, Amy Rex has been going for almost a year and says it's a life changing routine.

"I'm showing my kids that being healthy is important and it's not just to be thin but it's about overall health," Rex said.

Another TOSH participant, Yvonne Holdener, says: "It allows me to do more things athletically with them and not be the one that stays home while they go out and have fun."

One thing that the program offers is support and that's what keeps the participants coming back day after day to exercise.

Classes start at 6 a.m. Monday through Friday at TOSH–The Orthopedic Specialty Hospital at 5770 South and 300 in Murray. The classes run every half hour throughout the day. The program costs $60 for 12 sessions.
